That depends on your horse’s back shape, your saddle fit, and how you ride. Wool pads offer natural shock absorption, fleece adds softness, and felt pads provide structure. Reach out if you need help narrowing it down.
Most pads are sized by saddle length and bar coverage. A good rule of thumb is 1–2 inches of pad showing beyond your saddle on all sides. We’re happy to help double-check sizing if needed.
A saddle pad typically has built-in structure and padding for support, while a saddle blanket is often a thinner layer used for show or layering. Both can help with fit and appearance, depending on your setup.
Most pads can be brushed and wiped with a damp sponge after rides. For deeper cleans, follow the manufacturer’s instructions—especially for wool fleece, merino wool, or sheepskin pads.
We currently focus on Western pads, but we do stock some versatile options that work with other saddles. Contact us for specific needs or upcoming stock.
