6" Cheeks, 5.25" Mouth. The Sweet Iron Modified Billy Allen is a great all around mouthpiece and the perfect choice for a horse with a low palate. Reinsman's Modified Billy Allen has more mullen relief than the standard Billy Allen giving it an ergonomic fit resulting in soft and even pressure across the tongue, bars and lips. The center barrel has limited movement preventing the bit from scissoring down into the tongue or up into the palate, but has plenty of rotation. Sweet iron naturally rusts into a light patina. The rust creates a sweet taste for the horse, making the bit more acceptable and increasing salivation for a supple mouth. The 6" swept back cheeks make this bit fairly soft; and the combination of the Modified Billy Allen and the swiveling cheeks make it easy to isolate each side of the horse's mouth. Reinsman's Golden Glide bushings further enhance the smoothness of the independent cheek movement allowing for more precise cues. This style is preferred by reiners as a transition bit, and by trail riders, but the versatility of this bit makes it a great choice for any style of riding.
