March is here and everyone starts thinking of spring. Many thoughts will probably enter your mind at the thought of spring: longer days, warmer weather, shedding horses, and spring cleaning. Time to organize, go through, and air out your tack, saddles and horse stuff! You may come out with a huge "get-rid-of-pile." There are many wonderful ways to get rid of tack, saddles, or miscellaneous horse items that doesn't include the trash!
Saddle Up consigns used saddles, tack, and horse items that still have many years left in them. We have a large selection of used saddles and tack, all thanks to our consignee contributors!

It's a great way to do some cleaning and make a buck or two while you're at it! Sorting through, cleaning, and making sure everything is in good repair is the best way to get your tack or saddle consigned and sold! We recommend Leather CPR to recondition and clean old, stiff leather, and Leather New for adding a polished shine to already conditioned leather. Anything fabric can be cleaned by using a damp rag.
Another great way to send your tack or saddle to a good home is to donate to a non-profit that uses horses. They're always looking for good tack or saddle items! Rescues and therapeutic riding centers are great places to start.
If you have any tack or saddles that are broken beyond repair or too stiff to be conditioned back to working order, the best thing to do would be to throw them away. Old and stiff leather is easily broken and can become a safety hazard.
After a hard day's work of sorting, cleaning, and consigning or donating, you can relax and enjoy a clean barn with the thought that your saddle or tack will be exactly what someone else has been looking for!
