Morgan Horses

Posted by Saddle Up on Mar 14th 2018

Morgans are one of the oldest horse breeds in the USA, dating back to around 1789 when Vermont farmer Justin Morgan acquired a two-year old colt from Springfield, Massachusetts. He named his new colt Figure and used him for riding and farm work. Figure became widely known in the region for his strength, speed, and willing temperament and was a very popular choice for breeding.

Figure is considered the foundation of the Morgan breed. These horses are well-known and popular and continue to impress us with their abilities and willingness, whether in the show ring, on the trails, or working on a ranch.
