Appropriate Horse Attire

If you're just beginning your adventure into riding horses and horse life in general, you may have a few questions about appropriate attire to wear. Here are some general guidelines about the best clothes and shoes to wear while riding and working with horses.
Be sure to check with your riding instructor about proper attire as well! Also different disciplines will require different shoes/attire. Your instructor will be able to help you with the details. But this basic outline will help get you started with attire that is comfortable and safe!
A pair of hardy jeans will do nicely for almost anything horse related. Make sure they are comfortable to wear and allow you freedom to move without being too restrictive. Boot cut jeans are standard.

Any shirt will do as long as it's comfortable and allows for movement. Remember, you will be working with an animal, probably outside, and be very active, so choose your shirt accordingly!
For riding you want to wear shoes with a solid heel. (no high heels or wedges) A heel is important while riding so your foot doesn't get caught in the stirrup. Closed toed shoes are a must. Sandals and flip-flops create the potential of a broken toe, toe nail, or foot.
